Entrevistas!

Ashley's Mission Email #62

This week we had interviews with Pte. Corbitt. and you can imagine how that went. Amazing. You feel the Spirit immediately being around him. He prayed for the family and asked me about you guys. All good things of course!

We got to watch most of the Women’s Conference. They got it started a bit late so we missed the first talk or two I think. But it was still really good! Mostly I’m just super excited for General Conference! This conference will probably make history with so many new apostles called. It will be really interesting!

I am so happy to hear about Lauren’s Patriarchal Blessing. That is awesome. A Patriarchal Blessing is like personal scripture. Mine has helped me learn my role and responsibility and has given me comfort through some rough times. It’s pretty amazing.
I love you all. I love being a missionary. I love serving the Lord. I love the scriptures. I love the gospel. I hope you have a wonderful week!

Sorry, pictures next week. I forgot my adaptor.
P.S. I'm doing good! With a bit of a cold, but notthing bad. I feel fine.
It must be the change in weather. Just kidding. It's still hot.
         The weather never changes. Haha

El Evangelio es tan Simple!

Ashley's Mission Email #61

Today we just got back from a zone activity. That was pretty fun! We just played some
basketball and some Uno and ate spaghetti. Nothing too crazy because the sun is so
strong it wipes your energy pretty fast!
This Wednesday I got to do an intercambio and work with my hija!! (My mission daughter!) Hna Garcia now has 9 months in the mission and is growing up so fast. It was so cool to get to work with her again now that she knows so much. I’m so proud. Haha

Just a quick thought...this week I have thought about how the gospel is so  simple yet so profound. We can spend our whole lives studying and getting into deep doctrine and still not know it all but someone with only a year as a member can already be ready for the temple or to go out and be a missionary. It’s so simple that children can understand it. That’s what makes it applicable to EVERY SINGLE PERSON and WHATEVER stage of life they are in. Study the doctrine from the best books and study by knowlege and also by faith. (DandC 88:118 or something like that) You'll be amazed at how it starts to wrap around every single aspect of your life in a very personal way.

Love you all!

La Fe!

Ashley's Mission Email #60

I had a bit of a scare last week with my camera. It got a virus and I almost lost my pictures BUT I got them back. Most of them. Gotta love internet centers....

Anyways we had a zone conference this week which was wonderful. President Corbitt talked about Isaiah 3 and 2 Nefi 13 and how we are living in those conditions. But that we combat them with our faith. It's such a simple principle but it's hard to REALLY develop it. We have to learn to see with the eye of faith and to have a knowledge of the miracles that will happen even before they do. For example, contacting a family with huge problems and seeing them in white being sealed and being able to work with them as if that has already come true. The Spirit I felt in the conference was amazing.

I was so proud to hear that you asked to missionaries to come teach you guys how to share the gospel! It's easier than you think but makes SUCH a difference. I have always really come to understand the importance of visiting and home teaching and strengthening the ward. When others come to visit they will feel the family that we have in the church.

Les quiero mucho.

I Love to See the Temple!

Ashley's Mission Email #59
The temple trip this week was amazing of course. It’s hard to leave but even walking out of the temple you feel like you’re up in the clouds. I also got to see almost all the sisters I lived with in Villa Mella. Our whole crew was reunited except Hna Pichardo but it was so good to see them!

We have been visiting the members this week and practicing with them how to share the gospel. One thing I love about Dominicans...they are SO friendly. That makes missionary work a little easier! One of the members fed us yuca. Don't try it...haha

Pretty much this week I have just learned a lot about how perfect God´s plan is. We can’t even comprehend the half of it. BUT…that's why we are here. So if you ever get to the point where you think you've got it down, you know what you're doing, watch out because we are God´s children, and He really does know us and just wants us to follow Him.

Love you guys!

Survived La Tormenta Erika!

Ashley's Mission Email #58

Transfers! My new companion is Hermana Munoz. She’s from California, but her dad’s from Peru and her mom’s from El Salvador. She is so cute and happy and I’m so excited for this transfer!

So earlier this week an hermano in the ward had an accident in his house and a fire started and everything in his house burned. But you know what he kept saying? It’s all material stuff that can be replaced, we’re just grateful that nobody got hurt. That’s an example of humility. We went to his house the other day to help scrape the burnt paint off the wall to start the clean up. (Houses are all made of cement so the structure’s still there, just black.)

Oh, and no worries. We survived la tormenta Erika! We just couldn’t leave in the afternoon on Friday, but it really wasn’t too bad. Just rain and wind and we didn’t have gas, water or electricity, but it was all good. We got our 72 hour kits ready to go! And seeing as we don’t have any type of technology to entertain us, we had a good 6-7 hour talk with the sisters here in the house. Maybe you can try that sometime because it’s amazing how sucked into technology we can get. Put it down and get to know someone new.

But I love you guys and as always, I’m really grateful for the prayers of everyone. This experience is changing my life and I’m grateful for the support.

Love,
Hermana Allen
