Ashley's Mission Email #31

Just Another Week in Paradise! Sort of.

Hey!

Well this week we walked the world and ate some cake and yaroa and walked the world again and had some meetings and taught some lessons and it was all really good!

Thursday we had a meeting with the Stake President and his counselors and President Corbitt and the zone leaders and the assistants. It was a good meeting and we finally figured out our area boundries now that we´re about half way through the transfer. The plan of the Stake President is to eventually make our area a branch so we have a lot of work to do. Right now there are 4 member families that live in our area and only about 3 less active members so we are working on finding families and future priesthood.

I love being sister training leader. I still have SO much to learn but it’s so fun to get to know the hermanas better and to serve them. You are really able to be happier the more opportunities you have to serve. It’s fun!

Well any questions? Anything you want to know?

I love you all.

Ashley's Mission Email #30

So I got to go to the baptism of Altagracia (our investigator in Mendoza)! It was beautiful and I am sooooo happy for her. She will be a great church leader some day.

So this week was great! We had a leadership meeting with all the zone leaders and hermana leaders and president. It was like the 3rd one I've been to but the first one that I was actuallly invited to. Haha they are always really inspirational. We are starting a 15 to 20 project in the mission. To have 15 to 20 investigators progressing at all times. It's going to take a lot of faith and prayers and lots of work but we´ll get there!

We´ve been apartment hunting in our area. I never realized how much the mission is prep for real life until we did that.

This week one of the hermanas asked me what my advice would be to a mission prep class....I think I would say to walk with Christ. (Moses 6.34) Take it all as an adventure but if you are always acting in his name, you´ll never fail. It´ll be hard because the path He walked wasn´t easy (Ponder the Path of Thy Feet. general conference) but you´ll end the journey more Christlike and a completely different person.

I know the church is true. Thanks so much for your prayers and love.

The Road to El Dorado

7 months today. I can’t believe it. Sorry guys, but I don’t want to come home. Haha

Anyway our new area is called El Dorado. How appropriate because every day is like an adventure! We live way outside of the area with 4 other sisters, so theres 6 of us in a pretty small apartment. Reminds me of college. But we take the guagua into our area everyday which is an adventure in itself. One day there were so many people in it that the tire blew out. The other day it was raining and we were practically sitting outside the guagua. Fun stuff! The area is really different. It’s just a bunch of residenciales. So there are groups of apartments or houses that are all the same and then jungle, overgrown land in between. It’s a pretty hard area because people are more well off, but we´re excited for the challenge. We´ve already found a few good families!

Oh and my comp is Hna Mapa! She´s from California but was born in Tonga. She´s awesome and I´m so excited to work with her!

We had a Conferencia Regional that was broadcast from Salt Lake and Elder Holland and Elder Packer and Sister Oscarson spoke. It was soooo good. And guess what!! Elder Holland is coming here next month!! Wooo hooo I might finally get to meet him. (Elder Holland was in the Dominican Republic MTC a few weeks before Ashley got there, then in Farmington a few months after she left.)

Well thank you all so much! I can feel your prayers and support and I love you all.
